“We sometimes encounter people, even perfect strangers, who begin to interest us at first sight, somehow suddenly all at once, before a word has been spoken.”
There is something strange and quietly beautiful about this — the way a person can walk into your line of sight and feel, inexplicably, like someone you already know. No introduction. No shared history. Just a recognition that precedes language.
I have met people like this on trains, at bus stops, in markets. A brief exchange that somehow carries more weight than years of acquaintance. These are the encounters I keep returning to.
